I read an article today fromthe Citizen Times in Asheville, NC about a boarding school that is available for kids 12-20 years old. I love the fact that there are more and more resources for kids with special needs but for me personally, I would be very sad to send my son off to boarding school.

What fun it is to get new stuff. How unfn it is to set stuff up and repair other stuff. Single parents really need an extra education on fixing things – at least I do. I have found women on there own who are not knowledgeable in the area of how to can learn a lot from the Home Depot.

If your child has daily reading requierments for school, why not try having him/her get some of that time out of the way before school. Either after they are all ready for school or on the bus ride to school, if they take the bus, and on the way home from school. Children get more and more homework every year so this is a great way to lighten the after school load once they get home.

Ready to shoot for a new fundraiser? Why not try a basketball tournament. You can charge an entrance fee or you can offer up advertising from local and national sporting goods stores or apparel. Anyone who may want to sponsor your event. Give the winning team a portion of the funds that you raise and perhaps a nice trophy. You can make it an annual event and as the years progress, I’m sure you’ll get more sponsors as well and more entrants.

We can all lern lessons from six year olds can’t we?
Six year old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes.
He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.
He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.

Yesterday my kids and I went to wish my ex-mother-in-law a happy birthday and bring her some gifts. My 10 year old son with Aspergers was completely indifferent to her while we were there. I think he may have said one word, Porygon 2, when I asked him to tell what he bought with his allowance. We visited for a while as we stood by my van parked on the street in front of her house. She had returned home just as we had pulled up to her house.
