I decided to add a fundraising category to my blog. Some may think I’m crazy but I actually enjoy fundraising. Maybe it’s because I come from a background of financial struggle or maybe just because it makes me feel good to help others. Either way, I’m always up for the challenge and so many organizations need money these days, I really hope these ideas will be helpful.
Our church has a child care ministry, Noah’s Ark Child Care. With so many people getting laid off this of course has affected the number of enrollments at the daycare. It just so happens that my daughter works there part-time around her college schedule. She has been there for four years now since her high school days and has come home time and again with stories of the little cherubs she has in her charge. Once I found out that the daycare was suffering a bit, of course I wanted to help.
Last night there was a fundraiser at the local Cici’s pizza. There offered 10% of all receipts for the entire night as long as the patrons put the receipts in our box by the register. I suppose we will find out tomorrow how well we did but the place was jam packed. It’s a pizza buffet type place so not too expensive. My family of three was under $20 so our contribution did not amount to the price of a cup of coffee but when you add all of the families in, it will add up.
If you are looking for fundraisers for your local church, school, or other organization, stay tuned because I will be posting some ideas that you may not have thought of before. I have a long list that I will be sharing. I will forego talking about ordinary fundraisers such as car washes, yard sales, and selling candy or pizza coupons. So first off, make sure the next time you are at a favorite affordable restaurant, ask if they are open to a fundraiser night for your event. I’ve seen plenty here in town, fast food places such as McDonald’s and Eegees (a local sandwich franchise), and one of our favorites, Sweet Tomatoes. So get on out there and start earning money!
