If you suspect your child has Asperger's Syndrome, review the critiria and push to get your child tested from the school and specialists. Getting the answers you need can make a world of difference. There are many support groups that can offer advice as well on how to get started.

There is a fantastic section on subtypes of AS that will give you great insight on how to idetify your child's challenges and they way they think and recommendations on how to parent that type of child.

Great videos to teach kids social skills. My son loves the Model Me Kids series of videos. He even started to ask to watch them when he knew he was going to have one of his new friends over. This is is first year with real friends, he is in 4th grade now, and I attribute a lot of that to these videos and learning how to treat a friend.

Can your ADHD child really have Asperger's Syndrome? It's not uncommon for children to be misdiagnosed as ADHD instead of AS. There are a lot of characteristics that cross over. If your child lacks social skills or doesn't look you in the eye much or has other speech problems such as talking very qietly or very repetitive conversation, you may want to see about getting your child tested. Talk with your pediatrican or your school psychologist for more information.

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in August of 2008. Since then I have been on a mission to learn all that I can about this challenge he has. I really hate using the term disability because, in my opinion, he is just different – not disabled. There has been a lot of discussion lately about whether to do away with the term Aspergers Syndrome and just use the Autism diagnosis instead. There are pros and cons to both but I am leaning towards no.
